1. General conditions
1.1 The minimum age for enrolment is 15. Students younger than 15 may be accepted at the discretion of the Director of Studies.

1.2 A 90% attendance rate is required for all international students. Students may not receive a Certificate of Completion of Course or a report indicating their progress and achievements if their attendance falls below 90%.

1.3 The school reserves the right to substitute teaching staff and merge, cancel, delay or reschedule a class when necessary.

1.4 Students are expected to abide by the school’s terms and regulations at all times. Terms and regulations are explained at orientation.

2. Registration and fee payments
2.1 Overseas applicants are required to pay S $150.00 (+ 7% GST) application fee and a S$550.00 (+ 7% GST) Immigration Processing fee upon submission of registration. The Immigration Processing fee will be refunded if the student visa is rejected.

2.2 Full payment of all fees is due before the course begins.

2.3 All fees are calculated on complete weeks and study for any portion of a week is counted as a full week. No compensation is given for public holidays when the school is closed.

2.4 Students who wish to withdraw from the course must give the school one-month notice in writing (Attn: Hawthorn Language School), stating valid reasons for withdrawal. (Verbal notice shall not be entertained.)

2.5 The course fee does not include foreign or local examination/student registration fees, unless otherwise stated. All such fees paid are non-refundable and non-transferable.

2.6 Fee payments will be via crossed cheque made payable to TMC Academy Pte Ltd.

3. Refund Policy
This is the Refund Policy for all of TMC.

TMC refund policy is as follows:
i. Application Fee is non-refundable upon payment
ii. The refund of Course Fees will be based on the Refund Policy Table below:

    A) There is a 7-working-day period from the date of signing of the Student Contract which will     allow for a Maximum Refund should students decide to withdraw within this Period.

    B) Refunds will be made to students within 7 working-days## upon receipt of written notice     and complete submission of all required documents, including the original official receipt.

    C) Refund Processing Admin Fee applies. In addition, bank charges will be bore by the     student.

4. Further conditions of enrolment for international students
4.1 International students must observe the regulations set by the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA). All processing of Student Pass applications, renewals, termination, cancellation shall be managed by TMC on behalf of Hawthorn Language School (the Centre).

4.2 Sponsorship fees and international student management fees are to be paid upon approval of Student Pass applications.

4.3 Upon approval of the Student Pass, students shall abide by the international student management system of the School.

4.4 Hawthorn Language School reserves the right to cancel a student’s application if the student does not respond to the Centre within one month of the date of approval.

4.5 An attendance rate which reflect less than 90% per month attendance without valid reason may result in cancellation of the Student Pass.

4.6 Students must advise the Director of Studies in writing of an intention to be absent from class for any reason.

4.7 International students holding a Student Pass are strictly not allowed to engage in any form of employment, whether paid or unpaid, or in any business, profession or occupation in Singapore during the period of validity of their Student Pass. Violators will be prosecuted by law.

4.8 Students shall not indulge in any activities which are inconsistent with the purpose of which the Social Visit Pass/Student Pass has been issued.

4.9 Students shall not smoke, administer to himself/herself or otherwise consume or be in any way engaged in the trafficking of any controlled drug as defined in the misuse of Drug Acts (1985 Edition), or any written law relating to the control of dangerous or otherwise harmful drugs.

4.10 Students shall not be involved in any criminal offence in Singapore.

4.11 Applications for withdrawal, termination, or deferment of a course must be lodged in writing to Hawthorn Language School one month before the end of the course.

4.12 Students shall surrender their Student Pass for cancellation within 7 days of the date of completion or termination of studies.

4.13 Students shall comply with the provisions of the Immigration Act and any regulations made thereunder or any statutory modification or re-enactment thereof for the time being in force in Singapore.

5. Accommodation
We can provide assistance in allocating accommodation in hostels and homestay for students.
