- Independent Learning Centre
The Independent Learning Centre is stocked with resources
covering all skills – Reading, Listening, Writing, Grammar and Pronunciation.
It also has 10 computers available where students are able to access
online resources to help in all skill areas. Clarity Tense Busters is
the most frequently used software and teachers are able to monitor the
students’ progress. There are also listening exercises and cassette
tape/CD players available. There are grammar worksheets and a range
of books and worksheets.
- SCOPES Sports Cultural Outdoor Programme Excursion
a) After-school
From 3.45 until 4.30pm four days a week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and
Friday) there are after-school activities available to students, lead
by a lecturer. The purpose of these activities is for the students to
improve and practice their English in an interesting, informal way through
a range of activities. These activities include drama, pronunciation
exercises, grammar and language games, computer sessions and singing/listening
to English songs. The weekly SCOPE schedule is posted in the classrooms
on the 6th floor every week. If students are weak in a particular area
(eg. Speaking and pronunciation) they are strongly encouraged to participate
in these SCOPES.
b) Mid-Course and End Of Course Outings
In weeks 5 and 9 of the term SCOPE Excursions are conducted for each
level. The lecturers of each level will decide on a location and plan
some activities for the students. The aim is for students to practice
and extend their English language in an informal setting outside of
the classroom.
