ENGLISH LANGUAGE LECTURERS

(FULL-TIME / PART-TIME)

You will be part of a creative team that is committed to making English teaching a rigorous yet innovative enterprise. Your main responsibilities include lecturing, course development, and course administration, including student assessment. The actual kernel of the job, however, involves using both your heart and your head. Your heart: using the student-centred communicative method in order to make English learning interactive and fun for young adults from all parts of Asia. Your head: Developing dynamic English-language curriculum and sharing ideas with receptive teachers who are always looking for new ways to improve themselves. Hawthorn Singapore cares about teachers as much as it does about students.

Prerequisites:

Preferably a Bachelor degree and/or and professional qualifications in TESOL/TEFL/CELTA preferred, with 2 years’ actual TESOL experience.

We will consider candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Candidates with a B.A., TESOL certification, and previous TESOL teaching experience—most preferred
  • Candidates with a B.A., no TESOL certification, but previous TESOL teaching experience
  • Candidates without a B.A., TESOL certification, and extensive TESOL teaching experience
  • We will strongly consider people with the above qualifications who have also taught business English and/or IELTS or TOEFL preparation.
Candidates should have the following qualities:
  • Ability and willingness to assume course development and administrative duties
  • Ability to suggest new ideas, share the ideas with fellow teachers, and to think outside the box.
  • Ability to communicate well with a close-knit team of committed teachers.

All candidates will be asked to give a mock lesson to Hawthorn students, and your lesson will be observed by Hawthorn teachers.
