HAWTHORN SINGAPORE OFFERS A 5-WEEK IELTS PREPARATION COURSE FOR THE ACADEMIC MODULE

I am LEE JOONG HOON and I am from Korea. I have taken the IELTS class for 5 weeks as I needed to get a score of 6.0 to enroll at Monash University. In this class, I greatly improved my English because the two teachers, Pavel and John, helped me a lot. They didn’t mind spending their spare time teaching me. I was very impressed by that. Even though my first IELTS score three months ago was overall a 5.5, finally I got an overall score of 6.5. It wouldn’t have been possible if I hadn’t met Hawthorn and their teachers. This is why I recommend that you join the IELTS class in Hawthorn. I promise you, you will never regret joining this class. Studying in Hawthorn is not an option. It is a responsibility, if you want to get your ideal score.
Starting 7 July 2008, Hawthorn Singapore will offer a 5-week, full-time course that will prepare qualified students for the IELTS exam. It will offer students the same quality Hawthorn Singapore English language instruction.
 
Basic Information:
  • You must have the equivalent of a 5.5 on the IELTS, or a year’s full-time study at an English-language, tertiary-level educational institution. Having successfully completed Hawthorn’s 10-week EAP (advanced English) level is also a viable prerequisite. A placement test will be given to all interested IELTS students. If you do not receive an acceptable score, you should take the appropriate General English courses at Hawthorn Singapore. You will not be admitted into this IELTS prep course without these necessary prerequisites.

  • The course will follow the Hawthorn Singapore schedule: 5 hours a day (9:00–3:30 Monday–Friday, with breaks and lunch), 5 days a week. The course lasts 125 hours. It will be offered every five weeks.

  • You will be given a mock IELTS exam on the first day of class so you can see in which areas you need improvement. You will also be given a mock IELTS exam during the last week of classes to see how much you have improved.

  • Like the other Hawthorn General English classes, we will offer you a variety of activities outside the textbook: listening, field trips, computer activities, and guest speakers. You will be regularly assessed on your skills.

  • Our classes will always have twenty students or less.

  • Every day you will have an hour of independent study in our Skills Improvement Centre. We have many IELTS activities for you to use there.

  • Our teachers either have IELTS experience, or have Masters degrees in education and applied linguistics.
